St. Vincent de Paul is a lay Catholic organization that serves the poor through the support of the local parish. SVDP is perhaps best known for their thrift stores which provide low cost clothes and household supplies. Our local store is located at 2929 12th Avenue South near Lake Street. SVDP welcomes donations of quality clothing, furniture and other household items during store hours. SVDP also welcomes store volunteers to sort clothing and other items.
SVDP also assists persons in need through aid such as temporary rent assistance, vouchers, furniture, and more. Members of Holy Name are part of a local conference which meets once a month to confidentially discuss clients and how their needs can best be met.
Church of the Holy Name takes up a second collection during Lent for SVDP, and other private donations are appreciated and needed.
For general information, or if you would like to become involved as a volunteer at the store, become a member of the parish conference, or make a financial contribution please contact Dorothy Pitheon at 612-825-3927,
