With the Sacrament of Baptism we welcome God's gift of new life into our faith community! The details about preparation for Baptism for children are included in our Baptism brochure available in the back of church or by calling the office. The office will also help you sign up for a Baptism preparation session and the Baptism itself. Since the Sacrament of Baptism is a community celebration of welcome, we encourage families to celebrate the baptism of your child during a weekend liturgy.
If you are an adult interested in Baptism, please see the RCIA page on our website.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call or email Erin O'Leary, Director of Faith Formation, 612-724-5465, ext. 203.
First Reconciliation and Eucharist
Parents/Guardians of children who are at least 7 years of age (second grade) are invited to register their children for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist preparation. Preparation for First Reconciliation and the celebration of the sacrament take place in the fall. Preparation for First Eucharist and its celebration take place in the spring. Parents/Guardians are expected to be intimately involved throughout both programs. Those who are preparing for these sacraments should also be participating in regular faith formation sessions and should be registered members of the parish.
Please note that children must first celebrate their First Reconciliation before preparing for First Eucharist. For more information, please contact our Director of Faith Formation, Erin O'Leary, [email protected], 612-724-5465, ext. 203.
Those who are in at least 9th grade are invited to take part in the process of preparation for Confirmation. The process is an intensive one which invites the youth to examine their faith with both head and heart, so that they may fully commit to their Baptismal call. Sessions take place from late September through the spring and are held on Sundays. Preparation also includes a retreat as well as opportunities for service and preparing for the sacrament through journeying with one’s sponsor. Parents/Guardians may register their teen for this process as part of the annual faith formation registration. Participants should be registered members of the parish. For more information, please contact our Director of Faith Formation, Erin O'Leary at [email protected]e.org, 612-724-5465, ext. 203.
We can help you prepare to celebrate your marriage. The preparation process involves documentation, liturgy preparation, classes, reading and discussion with Fr. Leo. Since this takes a while we need you to begin your preparation six months prior to your wedding date. For your wedding to take place in our community you need to be a registered member of the parish. If you are a member of our community and plan to celebrate your marriage at another parish, you will need to speak the priest who will witness your marriage to ask what he will accept from our program.
If you have been married before, we will need to have your first marriage declared null by the Archdiocese. Fr. Leo will assist you with the steps of this process. If it is a Lack of Form case it may take a couple weeks after we have the proper documentation. However, if your first marriage was celebrated in the Church or with the permission of the Church, we will need to proceed with a longer annulment process which could take up to a year or more.
Please contact Fr. Leo to begin your preparation process or to ask any questions you may have. Fr. Leo can be reached at 612-724-5465, ext. 205 or [email protected]
Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick (formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction) is a grace-filled ritual of healing appropriate for not only physical illness, but for mental or spiritual illness as well. In this sacrament, the individual is anointed with holy oil that has been blessed by the bishop on the forehead and palms. The oil symbolizes and invites healing prayer for strength, hope and a greater awareness of God's love. This sacrament can be celebrated individually or communally and does not need any special preparation period. To arrange to receive Anointing of the Sick for yourself or a family member, please contact Fr. Leo and/or the parish office for assistance.
