2nd Sunday of Easter - Fr. Leo

Thomas comes to faith after resisting the encouragement of his brothers and sisters who experienced Christ as risen.  What I like about Thomas is that he wants to experience the Lord’s presence himself to inspire his own belief.  Maybe for all of us, we need the ‘experience’ of God to believe from the heart.

Well, Thomas gets his opportunity.  Jesus comes just for him.  After seeing the nail marks and witnessing Jesus, he makes the greatest faith statement of the entire Gospel when he proclaims Jesus, “Lord and God.”

I believe that the Lord comes for each of us, just as he did for Thomas.  Jesus desires an open loving relationship with each of us, and if we are open to his coming he will appear to us in many events of our lives, from the simple to the profound.

Take some time to ponder what is around you and the endless gifts life reveals.  I think all we need to do is slow down and smell the roses and we will know God.  Let us hear the psalmist and take to heart his words; “Be still, and know that I am God.”
