6-27-21 - 13 OT - Fr. Leo

13th Sunday OT - Fr. Leo

Mark’s gospel records many healings in today’s gospel.  The one that catches my attention is the woman who suffered a hemorrhage for twelve years.  Desperate she places her faith In Jesus and simply touches his garment and is cured.  The story could end there, but Jesus uses the occasion to teach.  Knowing that power went out from him he demands to know who it was.  The disciples don’t think they can discern in such a big crowd who touched him.  But finally, the woman confesses her actions and Jesus lovingly says, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.”

The Simple faith and simple action of the woman who placed her trust in Jesus was healed.  Jesus would like us to do the same.  The small but sincere act of faith in Jesus heals. Ours is the invitation to place our faith in Jesus in simple sincere ways that he way walk with us and heal us in our pains.

Many Catholics used to make an act of Faith, Hope and Love as their morning prayer.  I’ve seen such prayers on bathroom mirrors in homes to remind those who see it to pray.  Might it not be good to return to some such practice?   Put a prayer on our mirrors, or a picture of Jesus in its corner, to remind us each day to place our trust in the Lord that he may make a holy difference in our days.
