Becoming Catholic (OCIA)

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is for persons who are not Catholic and would like to become Catholic, are already baptized Catholic but have not received First Eucharist and/or Confirmation, or who are considering becoming Catholic.  OCIA is not a class as much as a process. Through scripture, readings, videos, discussion and sharing about core Church teachings and their applications to our lives, OCIA participants are invited to grow more deeply in their faith and discern if joining the Catholic Church or completing one's initiation into the Church is what they desire.

Sessions usually run from late September through Easter, but adaptations can also be made depending on circumstances.  There is no cost for OCIA.  For more information, please contact our Director of Faith Formation, Erin Werneke at ewerneke@churchoftheholyname.org, 612-724-5465, ext. 203.
