5-23-21 - Pentecost - Fr. Leo Schneider

Pentecost - Fr. Leo

Last Sunday, I entertained the idea that we live in two worlds.  One, the material physical world that we can see, taste, smell and feel.  The second world, the world of the Spirit that we cannot see, but yet know, if not through the senses, through the soul. Love being the prime example.  We know love, but only through the soul.

To live in the Spirit, is to live in God.  Even saying “Jesus is Lord,” cannot be done unless inspired by the Holy Spirit. Jesus is with us through the Holy Spirit. The Father’s love is communicated through Christ, but only through the Holy Spirit.

For us to live a spiritual life that motivates all our thinking and doing, we need the gift of the Holy Spirit.  Living in the Spirit allows God to live in us and expand our souls to experience heaven even now in this world.  Thus, the prayer of contemplation moves us beyond our experience of time and space and allows God to transform our deepest self in the ground of our being. It is there that the Spirit and soul merge as we come to share in the divinity of God.

Today, Let us pray for the gift of the Holy Spirit, that the strong winds of inner change may bring us a share in the divinity of God.  This will be exhilarating and challenging at the same time, but just as Jesus calmed the waters for the disciples, the Spirit will bring us through her transformation to be a new personradiant with the love of God.
