14th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Fr. Leo

“My grace is sufficient for you,
for power is made perfect in weakness.”

When St Paul refers to his weakness, it is believed that he suffered from Malaria.  So in his travels, he would become delayed because of long recuperations along the way.  So, Paul had an infirmity he had to live with.  One he didn’t choose.  Like Paul, we all have our infirmities of one kind or another, but they are to become a blessing in humbleness, and a source of wisdom for our living in Christ.  When we do, we become a light for others.

Jesus wants to do so much for us.  He wants us to live totally in him.  This gift gives meaning and purpose to our lives.  Sadly, in today’s gospel, Jesus is limited in what he can do because of lack of faith.  A reminder to all of us to treasure our faith more than anything else.  Those to seek the Lord, open their hearts and minds to the work of the Holy Spirit, which can accomplish all things in us.  Jesus can make us whole! We may still have our weaknesses, but they become a source of God’s mercy and love and makes us a light to the world!
