9-08-24 23rd Sunday OT B - Fr. Leo Schneider

23rd Sunday - Fr. Leo

“He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

Jesus cured people physically and spiritually.  This same Jesus stands before every person at this very moment to heal them of their infirmities.  What makes this doable is the faith of the person who is willing to say, “Heal me!”

Anyone could be Jesus’ client, rich, poor, alien, or sinner. However, faith is required.  We need to believe in Jesus and let him heal.  Unfortunately, many rather do it themselves or feel above the humility needed to allow Christ to heal.

The wealthy count of their wealth.  Those who are famous on their fame and those in power on their own will, and desire.  In these cases, Jesus can only weep for them.

So the first step to Christ transforming us, is to pray for the gift of faith, not on the lips, but in the heart.  When we put God first, all will be well.  I know there are times we might say, where is God, how could this happen in my life?  But God uses all things to bring us to the most important thing; to share in his life giving Spirit.

God’s Holy Spirit already dwells in us, we can acknowledge that and go to our inner room, our heart, where we are alone with God and learn from him.  It is there that the Holy Spirit will heal us and we will come to know the joy and peace of living in God.

Lord, heal our infirmities and draw us to live for you and in you above all things.  May thy love fill our hearts and may we care for nothing but the joy of our faith placed in you.  Amen.
